Private orthopaedics in London

Orthopaedics

Orthopaedics covers the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions — the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons that let you move. Sports injuries, arthritis and joint degeneration are among the problems seen most often, and each plan is set to the individual patient.

Where treatment is appropriate at the clinic, an ultrasound-guided injection can reduce pain and support recovery. Where surgery is the right answer, the consultant refers you onwards with your diagnosis and your imaging already done — which is the part of the pathway a diagnostic centre is built for.

Orthopaedic services

Orthopaedic information

Between them the consultants cover the sub-speciality areas of orthopaedics — upper limb, spine, hip, knee, wrist, foot and ankle. Assessment is consultant-led, and ultrasound and X-ray are on site, so investigation can usually happen at the same visit rather than at another appointment.

You do not need a GP referral letter to be seen. If you already have one, or letters and imaging from another clinician, bring them with you.

What areas we cover

Knee, hip, spine, shoulder and elbow, hand and wrist, and foot and ankle. Each is described in the cards at the top of this page, with what the appointment covers and where it leads.

A clinician examining a patient's lower back at the clinic

What is orthopaedics?

Orthopaedics is the branch of medicine concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system — the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves that let the body move and work properly.

Orthopaedic specialists, known as orthopaedic surgeons, see a wide range of problems, such as:

  • Bone fractures
  • Joint pain and arthritis
  • Sports injuries
  • Back and spine problems
  • Knee and hip replacements
  • Congenital bone and joint disorders

At this clinic that starts with a consultation and, where it is needed, imaging on the same visit — ultrasound and X-ray are both on site. What happens next is agreed with you: an ultrasound-guided injection here, rehabilitation, or referral onwards with the diagnosis and the images already done.

Mr Srinivas Gadikoppula

Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon

Mr Gadikoppula holds a consultant trauma and orthopaedic post at North Middlesex University Hospital and sees private patients at the clinic in London — fractures and injuries, joint pain and arthritis, and the knee, hip and shoulder problems that follow sport or simple wear over time.

His assessment begins with a thorough clinical examination: the immediate problem first, then the cause sitting behind it, so that what you are advised to do next deals with both rather than only the symptom that brought you in.

Where a scan is needed to settle the diagnosis, ultrasound and X-ray are on site and can usually be done at the same visit — so you leave with an answer rather than another appointment. Treatment may be an ultrasound-guided injection here, a rehabilitation plan, or referral onwards for surgery with your diagnosis and images already done.

Commonly seen for

  • Fractures and injuries after a fall or sport
  • Joint pain and osteoarthritis
  • Knee, hip and shoulder pain

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions people ask us most often before booking an orthopaedic consultation.

Cannot see yours? Get in touch or call — we would rather answer it than have you guess.

What orthopaedic conditions do you treat?

A wide range of musculoskeletal problems — joint pain and arthritis, back and neck problems, sports injuries, and pain in the knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist. The consultation covers diagnosis and a plan; treatment may be an ultrasound-guided injection here, rehabilitation, or referral onwards for surgery.

Do I need a referral to book an orthopaedic consultation?

No. You can book directly with the clinic. If you already have a referral from your GP or another provider, or letters and imaging from a previous clinician, bring them with you. If you intend to claim on private medical insurance, check your policy first — some insurers require a referral letter before they will cover a consultation.

What happens at an orthopaedic consultation?

The consultant takes a history of your symptoms and examines the affected joint or limb. Diagnostic imaging — ultrasound or X-ray — is available on site, so investigation can often happen at the same visit. You then discuss a treatment plan, which may include an ultrasound-guided injection, physiotherapy-led rehabilitation, or referral for surgery where it is needed.

What diagnostic tests do you offer for orthopaedic problems?

Ultrasound and X-ray are both available at the clinic, along with blood tests, so most orthopaedic questions can be investigated in the same visit as the consultation. If a scan this clinic does not hold is the right one for your problem, the consultant will say so and arrange it rather than work around it.

How soon can I get an appointment?

It depends on the consultant's diary rather than on anything fixed, so the honest answer comes on the call: send a booking request or telephone the clinic and we will tell you what is actually free, including any weekend times. Nothing is held and no payment is taken until you have agreed a time with us.

What should I bring to my orthopaedic appointment?

Any relevant medical records, previous imaging or reports, a list of the medicines you take, and your referral letter if you have one. Wear something that gives easy access to the joint being examined.

Are orthopaedic consultations covered by private health insurance?

Whether a consultation is covered depends on your policy rather than on the clinic, and some insurers require a referral letter or pre-authorisation first. Check both with your insurer before you book. Our paying with insurance page lists the insurers this clinic works with. Fees can also be settled privately.

How do I book an orthopaedic appointment?

Send a booking request from this page or call the clinic. We ring you back to agree a date and time and to answer anything you want to ask first — nothing is booked and no payment is taken until we have spoken.
