Empowering neurodiverse minds
Dr Hossein Rostamipouris a Consultant Psychiatrist working in the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. He is also a Visiting Consultant at the Priory Mental Health Hospital in Roehampton, and at the Brain Health Clinic of the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London.
Across NHS and private practice he has seen many patients whose ADHD had gone undiagnosed alongside serious mental health difficulties, and physical ones. Reaching a more accurate diagnosis based on what is actually driving the symptoms, and what that then makes possible for a patient and the people around them, is what he gives as the reason for his interest in ADHD and in how neurodiversity is understood more widely.
He has completed additional training in obstetrics and gynaecology, which informs his approach to the different and often subtler ways ADHD presents in women — a group in whom it has historically been recognised later, and less often.

Brilliant service from booking appt to having the scan and report. The sonographer was extremely knowledgable and had a great bedside manner. I went on 29/12 and I didn't catch the name of the lady but I have to say she answered all my questions thoroughly and honestly.
Dr Bhagat was exceptionally thorough and reassuring. He explained the X-ray and ultrasound results clearly, ruling out any serious concerns and recommending the best next steps. His calm and caring approach put us at ease throughout. Highly recommended.
Went for some diagnostic tests and was seen within hours of contact with Jose. The tests were completed quickly, with everything fully explained and a report provided within 24 hours. Extremely efficient and friendly service. Special thanks to Jose.
Superb service. I had an US for my soft tissue, very welcoming staff. The sonographer was thorough, friendly and accurate. I would chose this place again and highly recommended if you could choose to have your In-Health scans.
Extremely impressed with my scan appointment the sonographer explained clearly all parts of my scan which was most reassuring. The staff were all very knowledgeable and friendly , I can highly recommend the LDC.
I was able to get an appointment for an ultrasound scan within a few days for a reasonable cost and the service was very friendly and efficient and got the scan report back within a couple of hours.
huge thank you to Doctor Jawad Yahya from the bottom of my heart for being an amazing doctor. Thank you for referring me to Doctor Hossein Rostamipour (consultant psychiatrist) for ADHD assessment.
Excellent practice. Friendly, welcoming personnel and the venue is clean and modern. The radiologist was pleasant and explained everything clearly. Highly recommended.
Frequently Asked Questions
The questions people ask us most often before booking an appointment.
Cannot see yours? Get in touch or call — we would rather answer it than have you guess.
What mental health conditions do you treat?
The psychiatry service assesses and treats ADHD and ADD, anxiety, panic disorder, phobias and performance anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, bipolar disorder, postpartum depression, OCD, PTSD and trauma, grief, insomnia, adjustment disorder, stress and self-esteem. Adult autism assessment is also available. Assessment is the starting point: what is agreed afterwards depends on what that assessment finds.
What happens at a first psychiatric appointment?
The first appointment is a detailed psychiatric assessment. It goes through your medical and psychiatric history, the symptoms you have now, how long they have been going on and what effect they are having on your life, and what you are hoping for. The purpose is to reach a shared understanding of what is going on and to agree a plan with you — not to hand you a label at the door.
How much does a private psychiatry appointment cost in London?
A general psychiatric assessment is £600. An ADHD assessment is £1,100 in person or £800 by video, with follow-up appointments at £200 and extended follow-ups at £300. An adult autism assessment is £1,600. These are the consultant's own fees: they are arranged by telephone rather than booked online, nothing is paid in advance, and the fee is confirmed with you before an appointment is made.
Do I need a GP referral to see a private psychiatrist?
No referral is needed to book. If you intend to claim on private medical insurance, check your policy before you book — some insurers require a referral letter and pre-authorisation before they will cover a psychiatric assessment, and the requirements for ADHD and autism assessment are often stricter than for a general consultation.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Appointments are arranged by telephone, so the team can tell you what is available while you are on the call rather than after you have submitted a form. Call 020 8920 3129 or email Queries@theldc.co.uk and they will arrange it with you.
Do you accept private health insurance?
Fees can be settled privately, and whether a psychiatric assessment is covered depends on your policy rather than on the clinic — psychiatry, ADHD and autism assessment are the areas insurers most often restrict or exclude. Check your cover and any pre-authorisation requirement with your insurer before you book. Our paying with insurance page lists the insurers this clinic works with.
Where is your psychiatry clinic in London?
The London Diagnostic Centre is at the rear of Grovelands Medical Centre, 1 Grovelands Road, London N13 4RJ — in London, a few minutes from Southgate, Winchmore Hill, Enfield and Wood Green, and reachable by car, bus and rail.
Can I contact the clinic with a follow-up question after my appointment?
Yes. You can contact the clinic with follow-up questions after an appointment. Anything that needs a clinical decision — a change of medicine, for instance — will usually need a follow-up appointment rather than a message, because it needs a proper review.
Is this service suitable if I need help urgently?
No. This is a private, non-urgent outpatient service and it is not a crisis service. If you are in crisis, or you are having thoughts of harming yourself, call 999 or go to your nearest A&E. You can also call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option, or ring Samaritans free at any hour on 116 123.
