PAYING WITH INSURANCE

Private scans on your insurance

Using your policy at the London Diagnostic Centre

Most private medical policies include diagnostic scans and tests, but what yours covers depends on the policy you hold and your level of cover — not on us. One call to your insurer before you book settles it, and it is the single thing that prevents almost every problem people meet afterwards.

  • My GP or consultant has referred me — will my policy pay?

Many policies cover a diagnostic scan or test when a doctor has referred you, but it depends on your policy and your level of cover. Ask your insurer whether the specific test is covered and whether they need to authorise it first — bring the referral letter with you either way.

  • Can I use my insurance if I refer myself?

Some policies pay for self-referred diagnostics and many do not, so check before you book rather than after. If yours will not, you can simply pay for the appointment yourself: every price is published in full, so you will know the cost before you commit.

  • My insurer has authorised it. What do you need from me?

Tell us the insurer's name, your policy or membership number and the authorisation or claim reference they gave you, and bring photo ID to your appointment. If anything is missing on the day we can still see you — but the claim may have to be settled between you and your insurer afterwards.
